Saluda Primary School collaborated with Saluda County First Steps this summer to enhance the Special Education playground. Items purchased through a grant from Saluda County First Steps included: Little Tikes basketball goals, awnings for shade, swings and a wheelchair swing. The concrete, fence, and mulch were donated by anonymous donors. Business and community members worked together to spread the mulch, dig the holes to set the equipment, pour concrete, install the fence and equipment, clean the playground area, and anything else that needed to be done to prepare the playground for the upcoming school year. These volunteers even worked in the rain to ensure this playground was finished by the start of the school year. This was truly a community effort. The faces of these children show their appreciation and enjoyment of their playground.
